For that matter, what about all the stuff people post on these boards that helps out the wiki? Scans, knowledge, corrections, etc. Counts for nothing? You "trust" the information enough to use it...

That stuff is everything.
That is the ONLY reason this forum exists.
The dealers section counts for nothing.

The question was in regards to what makes a dealer "trusted". Your co-moderator said this:

QuoteTrusted Dealer are approved dealers of this site that have contributed by donating either there time (other than posting) or made finical donations to this site.

Which sounds like the folks who only contribute to the wiki via the forums count for squat even though they've certainly donated their time in addition to knowledge, scans, etc.

And how about the eBay sellers who contributed to the wiki unknowingly?

First, there are about 100 members and hopefully more will come. We don't want people setting up sales who we don't know. In real life, crooks and scam artists can set up on sites like this. I don't want  your, the site's , or my reputation wrecked by a stranger. The long timers here seem to be reputable (except me). so there is some safe gaurd. Also, if I am going to make $$$$ I don't mind shelling out time or a few bucks to do it.  Freedom is nice but not when you can be sued for it.

By the way, I still haven't set up yet because after taking 3 weeks to recover from 5 weeks of relaxation during my trip to CA, and starting a new term of teaching, my computer died. I can answer emails etc since I have other computers at work, but I can;t scan or do extensive lists. But do not worry, I will be up for it soon.

Because posting info is what you're suposed to do. Your civic duty.
Dealer or not, "trusted" or not.
Ordinary law abiding citizens always get taken for granted.

The upside for posters is that while dealers are getting all kinds of arbatrary rules imposed on them,
posters only have one rule:
That the info they post be true and accurate to the best of their ability.
(unstated till now, but i'm sure everybody tries to follow it, and we try to enforce it, automaticly)

If "the dealer's section counts for nothing" why all this hub bub about a link that may interest some members? It was an informational post, not a sales post, as I was selling nothing. If you are protecting your trusted dealers ask them if it bothers them to have these sort of links, and then remind them that your opinion is that their sales section counts for nothing.

Believe me when I say that I am very happy that this site exists and that the work you are doing is important. On the other hand the forums are equally important as they bind us together in our love for undergrounds & help define what belongs in the Wiki. Nobody is saying we shouldn't hear your opinions, what I think people are saying is to let things happen naturally & see where they lead to, trial & error, to help this site in the long run. It's like politics, power to the people or the people go to another party. I personally would like to see the party continue here.

Nice. Might as well keep with the system, eh?

Since you're ignoring my question about ripping off eBay auctions for scans and info I respectfully request you remove the following scans:

the reality is...

if Eggs had posted a link to a mini comix site (hey lookie this new comix) or something similar, even if the creator stood to gain, we would NOT even be having this discussion.  we wouldn't.

but b/c it was a site that carries slabbed comix... killed (initally), then moved, then flamed (repeatedly).  & here we are.

this is a discussion about these boards being OVERLY moderated by a select few for a very specific negative agenda (note that some mods have been conspicuosly silent).

as well as trusted dealers like RB asking honest damn questions.

most everyone here has contributed to the site, whether it is recognized by the cool-kids club or not... whether through work on Kennedy, FUG, or beyond.  seriously, how can there be any question about this?

we get it... the wiki is an anti-guide.  we get it... VQ & CJ & others are anti-slabbing.
WE GET IT

now leave us alone to play as we wish.  nobody's screwing anybody in this group.

Visitor Q

Everyone needs to relax a little. FUCK!

It plain and simple, I don't want to see people pissed off or pissed on, we are trying to set some guide lines here.

The "trusted dealer" is not about cash in fact cash has little to do with one even becoming a trusted dealer. All moderators of this site have to vote for a trusted dealer to be even approved to set up shop here.

We are lucky to have long time collectors like Arnold here and Artist like Jay to be in that section, it's called credibility.

I offered you a spot here Rick and you know I have no personal issues with you as I have dealt with you many times in the past dealing in several hundreds of dollars.

Like it or not, our rules are few and far in between here. We simply ask that you do not spam our site with links to dealers or people who have no involvement with this site.

As CJ said this site first and for most is about the Wiki. Please focus your efforts there.

I think everyone already knows how I feel on this subject, that's why I've been staying out of it.
I believe before anything, this forum needs members and that's what I've been doing as priority (as many of you who are here have been invited by me to join).  With more regular members, the rest will come (money for advertising, info. sales, etc.)  Then we can worry about being more rules oriented (IF THAT'S NEEDED).  Banning links to other sites, sales, ebay, etc. isn't going to bring members, it's going to reduce them...  But then I'm just a volunteer mod. and this isn't my site so I abide with what's available from the Head Man In Charge.

It looked like a sales post TO ME.
It bothered ME.
If my anti-slab bias was a factor in the decision to MOVE the thread,
I still stand by the decision.

"...killed (initally), then moved, then flamed..."
That sequence of events is false.
I was the first to act, and i MOVED the thred to the "Commericial Distrect"
