I'll be continuing it here...
The sequel to my Zap Comix #2 thread...
So I'm having a hard time picking up a FB #2 (1st print). I've seen 2 on ebay (in the $70-90 range) in the last year, but missed both of them and haven't seen any since for months now.
Also saw a 4th print I need but missed on that one and it's the only one I've seen, everything else is 3rd prints with blue interior covers.
So I don't think this research will go as smoothly as the Zap Comix #2 findings went, but figure I would start it now...
First, if anyone has a 1st print, I would like to know if you can tell me if it's glossy or matt paper? Also, scans of the front and rear inside covers would probably help me. Also if anyone has a 4th print (with the dealer McDope/Meat Market bag ad next to the Young Lust ad at the bottom of page 49) then a scan of the front and rear interior covers would also help.
So I haven't come across any early prints with glossy paper covers yet. I've got 3 pink paper 5th prints (2 blue interior cover, 1 B&W) and a 6th print (B&W interior covers) and they are all glossy paper. But the 4 blue interior covers with white newsprint guts I have so far all have matt cover stock.
And here's the biggest finding I've found so far. 7 copies I have with 50 cent cover price all have basically the same rear interior ads (blue or B&W) covers except this one. (FB #2 ad instead of the BA #1 ad). Order coupon replaces Skull Comics #1 with Further Freak Brothers.

I still have yet to come across a 2nd print (glossy cover stock).
the "3rd print" (matt paper with blue interior covers), but that has the FB#2 ad (instead of the BA#1 ad) on the inside back cover is about .25" taller (standing up).
The old 6th print with white interior covers and .50c cover price has both the Cocaine and Dirty Duck T-shirts in the ad removed.
The 3rd print with blue interior covers and the "Free Funnies" ad seems to have either had multiple print run or a large print run as this printing seems "TOO" plentiful, compared to others.
It appears I've come across 3 different printings of the .60 cent cover price print.
1st has white interior covers and the back inside cover ad for the T-shirts has the 2 T-shirts (Cocaine and Dirty Duck) removed. On the back cover there is no 2 "scratches" in the printing plate (green part) that curve out from the left two corners of the back coupon to the left edge of the cover. Cover paper is glossy. Dots in the orange on front cover are very apparent. Staple placement is MUCH closer together than the following two.
2nd is same but does have the "scratches" in the printing plate. Cover paper is more glossy. Dots on orange on front cover is less apparent. About .25" taller.
3rd is with the "scratches" like 2nd, but has all the T-shirt ads removed. Cover Paper is more glossy. Dots on orange on front cover is less apparent like the 2nd. About .25" taller.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

You're welcome. (None of your care packages have showed up at my door???) I'm going to try and gradually move my future posts onto this forum, hopefully others will follow...

This image helps explains a little (notice where the glue is). Someone with printing experience know if this means that all the BA #1 ads came first then the FB #2 came? Would this have been the only one used for the rear page since it's the original, or could they have used a copy?

This original is another Akumulate acquisition.
Cooool...
Ilike it. I want it.

Yes that's what it means. BA1 then FB2.
It also shows that the text was changed in the art stage. And the thumbnails were changed in the negitive stage. The covers were shot sepreatly because they needed to be screened.

Please explain. What's your theory? Why use a copy?
Trying to figure out how they came out chronologically. Would it be the multicolored interior cover with BA #1 ad then the blue interior covers with BA #1, then the multicolored interior cover with FB #2 and then the blue interior cover with FB #2 ad (or vise versa). Or would it be the multi-colored with BA #1 ad and then the multicolored with FB #2, then the blue interior cover with FB #2 ad and then they used a copy of the old version of the back ad to then put out the blue cover version with BA #1? That sounds less likely to me... I suspect it was more likely the first and the multi-colored and blue interior covers with the FB #2 ad was done after the printings with the BA #1 ad.
