Thought I would start a Double Cover thread so post 'em...
I've got a Cocaine Comix #1 (1st print) double cover.
Here's one that I missed recently...

$41 seems a little steep, even with the double cover. What do I know, though? I'm a cheapskate!
A double cover to me is nothing more than a error. I would not pay anymore for it myself but to each his own. Infact if I had a choice between a normal copy and a double cover one, I would pick the normal one providing I did not already own the book in the same condition.
Just my point zero two.

In the days when people bought comics to read, double covers were prized. First, the inside cover was usually vf. but more important, coverless or 3/4 cover comics were very collectable. Thus, a double cover meant you had a cover for another book.

What is a 3/4 cover comix- partially torn cover or three color only printing that would normally be four color?
There is single copy of a two color only- magenta and yellow copy of Lost Cause Comix #2, does that appeal to collectors?
I remember....
Back in the old days, comics were sold at your corner mom-n-pop's general store.
They had "return privledges" on unsold comics, mags, paperbacks, etc. to their distributer, who had return privledges to the publishers.
To save on shipping, storing, etc. only the cover (or title part thereof) needed to be returned. The rest of the book was suposed to be destroyed. (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) So of course there was a market for coverless or ripped books. (3/4 cover)(cheap reads, not collectors market)
What Dr S is saying is that with two covers, you can restore a coverless book.
Making a double cover copy worth maybe 1.5 times a single cover copy.
But they can go for a hell of a lot more...
Did I mention that I sold my CGC 9.8 TMNT #3 (1st print) double cover for $1,100 earlier this year?
I have this Bijou #4 (2nd) double cover...

I believe I have a few others... will have to check.

But is that kosher? or is it cheating?
Will CGC check for a replaced cover? and list it on the lable?

yep, CGC will check for it and note it if they find it. Not sure if it gets the restored label or not, though.
