Title: Newpaper shortage of 1973
Post by: 50Cent #II (1st print) on February 14, 2008, 03:48:35 PM
Anyone know how long the shortage was for?  Was it just for the year 1973 or did it last longer?

beyond the mere shortage, it marked the beginning of steeply increasing costs for pulp paper.

i suppose its effects can still be felt today.  whereas u-comix were relatively cheap to produce in the beginning, the 73 shortage and subsequent price hike made all but the most popular titles not viable to produce.  couple that w/ advances in zeroxing and you have a movement that migrated to mini comix (Kennedy's newaves).
