From a copy of Zap #4, looks like Spain was signing Crumb's name to Skip (Williamson?) or Crumb was imitating Spain's handwriting...

Could be, but since it appears that it was done on Feb. 17, 1985 and it's signed by all the other artists except Moscoso :yikes: (signed a seperate #4), I'm leaning towards it being authentic.
It probably is authentic due to Moscoso not signing...he probably was charging too much. He showed up at Wondercon the year Zap15 came out along with Spain, Wilson and Mavrides, and would only sign for a fee....he did have the shortest line, though!....It also looks like Crumb may have been aping the way he signed the Joe Blow strip as seen in that first panel...not an exact match, but of the same type almost!!!

I'm willing to bet that it's probably from the same event, only one sig. in the book dates it Feb. 17, 1985, a couple others only state '85. and a couple don't have a year.
Sure... I guess it is possible but I have no clue what event it was from. Any ideas?

smart rule, one I don't follow myself, though. When I had S. Clay Wilson and Kim Deitch sign books for me in NYC in November, I had them sign them to Joe. It's really not that important to me, but I do like to let whoever is signing for me know that I'm not getting his signature just to re-sell it.

The only comic con I've ever been to was a WonderCon a few yrs. ago in the San Francisco Bay area (San Leandro? Oakland? Can't remember exactly now.) Anyway, I got to meet Spain & S. Clay Wilson for the first time & that was a real rush. We're all about the same age. I bought 1 ea. Zodiac Mindwarp & Pork & they both signed them for me & put to my name. I've never had any intention of selling them anyway. I'm not the kind of fanatic collector that needs something in the original. For me it's the contents, not the container that's important so if I ever sell any of my own comix I'll probably xerox them first so I'll still have the contents because that's what important to me about them anyway.

My collection is not for sale, at least not at this point in my life which is one of the reasons I don't have things personalized.
Right now I have no plans to sell my collection ever but who knows how I will feel about it in another 30 years...
