Title: Looking at US "C" Page
Post by: Sir Real on November 06, 2007, 04:00:41 AM
I've just given the US "C" page the once-over, and I've got some issues with some of the entries.  I know that CJ initially put it together, and I don't know if anything else was added after that.  Anyway, I've marked what I consider the questionable entries, and here's the list...

Can You Dig It All? (Starhead Comix 1990) 1.50
Chicago Cartoon (Mike Johnson and Bill Kamper 1993) 2.50
Chicago Cartoon #2 (Mike Hunt Comix and Art Comics 2001) 2.50
Children of Fire #1 (Richard Corben - Fantagor Press 1988) 2.00
Children of Fire #2 (Richard Corben - Fantagor Press 1988) 2.00
Children of Fire #3 (Richard Corben - Fantagor Press 1988) 2.00
Rip In Time didn't make the list, so Children of Fire shouldn't either.
Cobalt 60 Book #1 (Tundra Publishing, Ltd 1992) 3.95
Cobalt 60 Book #2 (Tundra Publishing, Ltd 1992) 4.95
Cobalt 60 Book #3 (Tundra Publishing, Ltd 1992) 4.95
Cobalt 60 Book #4 (Tundra Publishing, Ltd 1992) 4.95
   Same with Cobalt 60.
Cocaine Papers - Sigmund Freud (???)
Collected Naugacomics #2 (1989) 3.00
Collected Sacker (Nerve Productions 1986) 2.00
Collier`s 1 (Fantagraphics Books 1991) 2.75
Collier`s 2 (Fantagraphics Books 1992) 2.75
Collier`s 3 (Fantagraphics Books 1994) 2.75
Creature Feature (1986) .75
Crusaders 2 (Chick Pub. 1974) .39
Crusaders 12 (anti Catholic - Chick Pub. 1979) .59
Crusaders 13 (anti Catholic - Chick Pub. 1981) .59
NO!  No Chick publications here, no matter how humorous they are.

So, if there are any reasons why these should remain, speak now or forever hold your peace.

we could place them in a new directory like: "New Stuff" or "Comix from the 80-90"!?
The crusaders are more obscure than underground. i think they are christian propaganda comics and could be deleted.

Nope, not me.
Except for the Crusaders, i've never heard of any of those.

:police: The Crusaders 12 & 13 were banned :nono: here in Rochester :EK:, because of the strong anti-Cathloc plotline. :icon_madu: (I could post scans of the newspaper articles :protest:  if anybody cares) So of course i had to buy em. i had to bribe the clerk at the religious store.:angel12:
Feel free to delete them.

Comix Junky... You may find this hard to believe and wonder how in the heck I was I able to pull it off but I have comix signed by Jack T. Chick and have as much proof as I could muster to go along with it. Since I handled the whole ordeal, I can assure you they are real and if you know anything about the allusive Jack Chick...

Jason

ps. I love Chick Tracts, strange because I am Catholic but then, I don't buy much into half the crap I read and collect. To me it's art, I don't have to agree always with the subject matter.

I didn't list the above books either, but I guess this means we're saying we don't want to include any recent books?

Yeah I guess I didn't really answer but I did not list those books as well. I would say maybe have one more section for like New Wave/ Independent/ Alternative Comix if you want. I was kinda figuring on the Wiki sticking to 82 to 85 down but I don't think we really sat a guide line?

i list them .
i think comix like the fantagor press stuff and cobalt 60 are related to the classic comix.
i would prefer a section for New Wave/ Independent/ Alternative Comix.
also, that we have something to do if the classic section is done.

It's tricky. Comics by Crumb, Corben, Bode, S Clay, Robert Williams and other major major masters should be on this site. Rip and Time, Children of Fire and Den are up there. But, they are after 1985 and maybe not Ugish enough (Den is). Perhaps a separate area for each of their non-ug or later works might fit the bill.

I vote they all stay, if it's questionable then I would say they should stay.  The Chick stuff is controversial comics, similar to the early UGs where when they came out and I think they are appropriate to have here.  There was a cult comic book I remember recently discussed in the other forum that dealt with an extremely questionable topic that I would also consider that should be added.
That's just my view though...

Okay, I'm inclined to agree with *50Cent #II.  I don't have a problem with crossing the lines of genera minutea.  I could imagine being able to search on the Wiki to follow the development and history of a favorite UG artist.

We can all agree that the Underground era didn't just terminate at a given point in time.  We should be able to err on the side of caution.

Did that make sense? :smokin:

*My edit was correcting :smokin: an innocent typo.  I've just added :smokin: 35ยข.
