Well today kicks off the official first day of Comic Con in San Diego and I would like to personally thank Jay Lynch for the wonderful flyer he did for our site, it can be seen below. Thanks for steeping up to the plate and helping Jay, it is GREATLY APPERICATED, you did a wonderful job as always!
Thanks!
Jason :01_bounce:
ps. Look for our flyer at Dr. Arnold Scheiman' s table at the show.
That's awesome!
I don't know who else is involoved, but I am handing them out at my table J# at the end of the 1100 aisle near the food.

They should use that flyer as wrap for the food you will be near....it's a great flyer and the fanboys will become inspired as they chow down their weenies, eh?
pizza
I heard it the "must have" item at the show.
Jason
Duh.
Pizza is the "must have" item at EVERY con. :-)
The slices are sure flying 'round here, f'sure.
How is the show, anyone there besides Arnold?
Jason
eggs, sirreal, benway, guy, kitchen, deitch so far
Is Fogel there? I'll be there tomorrow. Will Eggs still be there on Sunday?
I will be there.
You guys better post pictures!
Jason
Some of my take home booty from SD this year...
Skull Killer #1 (Deluxe version with only 50 copies printed)
Obscure #1 1/2
Mal Burns Comix Index
Collector's Guide to Newave Comix
this is Tattooed Paper Comix
Authentic Visionary Comix (this one I always loose out on eBay, but that's perhaps of the LOW print run even for a Underground, with 2,000 copies printed.)
Cherry mini #2
HeeHee
Eternal Truth #1
Betty Boop Funnies #1
and an Australian Underground called No Future #1 (1980)
Really enjoyed seeing Arnie again and a great pleasure to have met Eggs (who picked up some nice Ug's).
this is Tattooed Paper Comix
You get my updated version? ;)
Jason
Nice pickups!
Try collecting British undergrounds if you think 2,000 copies is a low print run. :laughing7: Once you get away from titles such as Cozmic Comics (or anything from H. Bunch) and Nasty Tales, the average print run is between 50 to 500 copies, and I'm talking about full-size comics with color covers, not minis as would be the case with such print runs here in the states.
hey buzz buzz... what's the buzz?
any dope ass UG-style con reports to peruse in the days before i ball that jack up the double-nickel?
:13: :driver:
Anyone pick up a flyer? There collectible ya know. =]
Jason
They're collectible, that's what I was telling everyone...

The only thing I found was some stains and the pages sticking together???
Forgot to mention the nice Graham Nash collection. Highlights: They had a 9.6 Tales from the Ozone #1 that sold as well as a Jizz (double cover) that I think was a first print graded pretty high that I don't think sold, among many more high grade Ug's.
The Jiz was a 9.0
The CGC comics are noted with "From the collection of Graham Nash". I was told by a Heritage employee that many of his comics came from Jerry Weist's personal collection. There are hundreds & hundreds of undergrounds, most have not been CGC graded. For now, the prices are very aggressive but if you are also a CS&N nut, you have to have a couple in your collection.
The dealer handling the sale told me 2 other CGC comics were sold, a CGC 9.4 Mister Natural #1 (First Print-Cream/Off-White) pages and a CGC 8.5 Funny Aminals.
My purchases included 2 Nash Books, the Ozone & a Big Ass #1 (CGC-2nd),
Raw books:
Dr. Atomic Marijuana Multiplier (No price on cover, yellow/black)
Big Ass #1 (Red Box-probable new first)-Thanks to Guy for spotting it.
Big Ass #2 (First)
Kosmic City Komics
Die Gretchen
Low Grade Freak Brothers #1 Black Tire
BTW, Dr. S has an unbelievable selection of underground comix, if you need it, he probably has it. He even had a hardback Head Comix with him.
How was the Graham Nash collection being sold?
Jason
A relative of Graham's, MIchael Diaz consigned some of the books to a dealer, Steve Wyatt (He is the one who wrote the article about the Malcolm Whyte collection in the Fogel guide).
I believe Michael mentioned that that was just for the SD show and that after the show they would decide if he would continue to do so.
Interesting...
What did from the Ozone #1 sell for and to whom?
Jason
Don't know how much it went for, but it was definitely the highest price paid for it.
Forgot to mention the big one, probably the best condition green Lenny of Larado they were asking $6k for. I know at least a couple people were making offers on it, but I don't think it sold (though I suspect it got close).
Michael indicated he might try a few more shows with Steve (who is a good guy). As mentioned above, I bought the Ozone.
The green Lenny was very very nice but the Ozone was the best comic in the collection in my opinion.
So what did you pat for it or is it a shhhhhhhhhhh....
Jason
A lot
pfff... I can find out if you would rather not say.
I'll let it be.
Jason
Soooooooooooooo.... Where are all the pix from the con.?

seriously... not a single con report in this bunch? it's only SD fer cry-eye...
What would some of the reasons be for not wishing to disclose the amount of money paid for a particular comic, other than not wanting to look like an idiot for having forked over a ridiculous figure?

privacy, being that it's no one's business if the buyer doesn't wish to reveal it?

Agreed.
well... i dont know about eeediot... but our particular friend eggs has quite an enviable collection & it is a nice book we r discussing
i paid $200+ for the massachusetts copy of COMIX BOOK #2 & that only books in Overstreet for around 17 at the time
the box it was in tipped over on transport to storage (prior to the move) & ooooooooo i was looking so close for 'slab damage'
And I paid around $2 for my copy of Cunt that books around....oh yeah, it was the seller who looks like the idiot in that case....never mind!
An a guy in Belgium won a copy of Cunt for $1 Buy It Now about a year or so ago...
Well, you showed me...now I'm feeling like a major MOE-Ronn...shit, I paid twice as much as I should have...whatta Kunt!
Picked this up from Arnie at his booth. Looked to be in great condition so I took it right over to the CGC booth and submitted it.

Great cover! You got that book back fast!
Welcome to the boards drbenway. Did you pick up our flyer from Arnold's table? Should have it CGC. =]
Nice book BTW.
Jason
Missed you at the con Dr.Benway, but I was there only Sunday.
Nice to see you've finally made it over to these boards.
Arnie, Would you happen to have another and do you know who did the cover artwork?
I think I have more, but I have to check. The art should be in Kennedy.
Here's some more SDCC pics.

Thanks for the pictures, drbenway.
I see several books on the Good Doctor's table and wall that I'd love to have...
Ah, maybe someday...
The ones on the table are what Dr B got from me. The gem was the Bacchanal. By the way, the good ugs were in the boxes under the table.
Thanks for the pics!
I noticed that the bacchanal entry was blank on this wiki so I added a page and included a scan of the Wonder Warthog story. Check it out here:

I am back home and recovering from serious jet lag. but, I have uploaded the pics that I took of Ug people at the Con or in one case SF. Guess who they are.

As for me, the sales were terrible and I only picked up the following : the green German Crumb HC Sketchbook, Fresno Funnies, Snatch 2 (red juice), 2 tales of the Toad 1, and a rough Miami Pop. All for $500 + a Tattooed paper.
