I know several board members are from the Philadelphia area, so I'd like to get your advice. I've been asked to lecture at the R. Crumb Underground exhibit at ICA on September 17th. They want to arrange a book signing while I'm in town at a local store. Who do you recommend? How many comic stores are in Philadelphia anyway?
I'm from the Philadelphia area, but almost never go into the city, so I couldn't tell you much if you're looking for a store in Philadelphia proper. Comics and More in Bryn Mawr is a good shop if you don't mind something in the suburbs, though I wouldn't say they specialize in undergrounds. They do carry quite a few of them, though.
