actually, unless someone here has a copy of Mystic Funnies #1 with a $4.95 cover, I believe it might be a Fogel Guide error. I just scoured eBay for copies of Mystic Funnies #1, and there are no $4.95 editions, in current or ended auctions. There were a lot of auctions for the book. The final straw was when I checked Sir Real's site, and he has the $5.95 as the first printing, as well.

So unless someone indeed does have a $4.95 edition of Mystic Funnies, I think this one doesn't exist and the $5.95 edition is the 1st printing.

Interesting, could be confusing because even though Last Gasp shows a $5.95 cover price, they charge $4.95.  But also Crumb's own site sells it for $4.95 (but the image doesn't show the cover price).

Well, we can dismiss the Crumb web site price, as every comic on that page is priced at $4.95. The one they are offering is the black and white edition.

A THIRD?!?!?  You're telling me I've got a THIRD Edition?  I had to quick lookup my own page before I even saw Brother J's link to it.  Okay, I feel a bit better, but my heart is still pounding.

I believe that the $5.95 edition is a first, because...

1.  It's a full-color comic.  Higher printing costs, eh wot?
2.  The publishing dates fit into a tidy timeline.
3.  The first edition looks like it was privately published, as opposed Last Gasp and Fantagraphics.

The indicia of each edition is telling, too.

1st edition (it looks hand-lettered)
MYSTIC FUNNIES ©1997 by R. Crumb, published by Alex Wood, coordinated by Jesse Crumb, colorizing by Tom Pomplun.

2nd edition (typeset) (also says "PRINTED IN CANADA")
MYSTIC FUNNIES #1 ©1997 by R. Crumb.  Originally published by Alex Wood; second printing (April 2001) by Fantagraphics Books.  Thanks to Alex Wood, to Jesse Crumb and Tom Pomplin for production on the original edition, and to Peppy White for production on the second edition.

One funny thing I noted, is the name of the colorist, Tom Pomplin.  In the first edition it shows "Tom Pomplun".  It is quite clear, and no mistaking the lettering of it.

OK, unless any pics. show a $4.95 cover price, we'll assume that the FUG is in error on this one.
