Thanks.

50Cent #II (1st print)

It's not in Smoot #1 or Snappy Sammy Smoot (1979)?

Asking, I don't think I have either...

No, it's not, just checked my copies of both.

My money is on the Novemeber issue of PlayBoy, the artwork is dated 1976. Anyone know if Skip was in Playboy at that time... Meaning that year, before or after?

Sir Real

Me too.  That story isn't in any of my Smoot stories.  Of course, I haven't gone through the Yellow Dog series in detail yet.  But I'm almost positive it isn't there, either.  I don't remember that story from anywhere.  First time I've seen it.

I'd say the best bet still lays on the Playboy research.

How long did Skip run his stuff in Playboy, anyone know what years?

Not Playboy.  Playboy would insist on owning the copyright...and it has Skip's copyright notice on it.  Page one has registration tape on it...therefore, he originally intended it to be fake color...and switched to painted color midway.  My guess would be High Times mag.  Playboy Funnies didn't start until what...'78?

...and when Playboy runs a strip, they rubber stamp the back with a notice that all reprints must be negotiated thru Playboy.  So if it isn't stamped it wasn't in Playboy.

Be sure to pick up a copy of Lisa Rogak's latest book, A BOY
NAMED SHEL,  It is a biography of Shel Silverstein...and it contains
lots of material supplied by Skip.

Visitor Q

There is no stamp of any kind on the back. Just his name, address & phone number written 3 times, and crossed out twice.
