Bye the way, anyone collect cfa apas, or have any for sale. I need #13. For those of you who don;t know, they are an original art magazine. One had a Crumb cover (35?) And there was WiIson, Corben, and Crumb in several issues.

Reverend

I think he's talking about the Das Kampf, but now I'm not so sure.

#1 and 2 of CFA APA just sold for a bargain $150 each.  They have very low print runs and I'm alway on the look out for the Crumb one.  Check eBay.  Lately a few have been showing up, but they go for the $100 range.

Once again I misread something. I saw the Inflatobook picture and thought Jon was talking about that. Just now I read the words and realized he was talking about the Das Kampf. I bid $2500 on his and lost to Bruce. So there, people know the ballpark that I am in for one.
Anyone got one? Also $300 fo the Inflatobook, which isn't even an ug.

jwcomix

The Das Kampf went for $4000. That was the minimum bid and that was what it went for.

I know what it went for, and what I bid. I probably didn't meet the reserve. Although I seem to remember coming in 2nd. But who knows how high Bruce would have gone. In any case, anyone have one for sale or trade?

When was the Das Kampf up for Auction?

dr_s

About 2 or 3 years ago. The price seemed to be in line with the Weist guide. That was the copy that I sold and got screwed out by someone who found about my repurchasing it and then cutting me out. He then offered it to me but sold it to Rick Wayne. Rick even paid less than I had agreed to. Some day I'll get one.

I was collecting them before Ebay put them out of my price range, when you could write the current collator and get them for $15 -20 a piece.  Is the Crumb issue you refer to the one that covers Undergrounds, or was there a Crumb solo issue like the Ditko, Adams, Steranko, Kurtzman, etc. issues. Who is the featured artist on the issue you seek? I have some of the early ones, but usually only purchased issues of interest to me specifically, rather than as a completist.  I think they are great, but now a part of my collecting past, so it would seem.

I believe the Crumb issue is the same Underground issue (#35). PM me if you're selling a copy.

For those who don't know, the CFA-APA is a series of 73 fanzines that display the members original art collections. No issues were about a single artist. Usually a single theme, but even then, other stuff was included. I got into it because a Corben check list had issue 30 on it. I later found out, maybe through eBay, that other issues had Corben. It seems that 2 people, a Corben collector- John Kelly and the guy how published the Tales from the Plague reprint were active members. As such, Corben was in many  issues. As I collected them, I said why not go for the gusto and collect them all. I now need only 13 - no Corben in it however.  Kelly also is a Wilson fan, so there is Wilson in some issues. #35 was an underground theme and had a Crumb cover.

I know the date since I have 12 and 14. Actually the 12 is for sale for $125. Aside from the Corben and the actual niceness of the series, I became interested because many of my old friends were members. It was fun reading their blurbs from the days.

First, how the hell do you order from them? Second, you inspired me. I found the list of all issues from 1-72. Here is the link for those interested.

I guess it's a matter of semantics, as you are correct that any member could submit an article on any topic, in any issue, but some of the themes were about specific artists, because those were usually the ones I obtained, the Underground, EC and Studio Artists being exceptions that come to mind right now.  But I also have issues dedicated to Steve Ditko, Harvey Kurtzman, Steranko, and Neal Adams.  Not all the articles in those latter issues are about the artists, but the issues are themed about them.  So sorry for my faux pas.
