Twas me that took that third one. I needed another Zap #2 1st print to mate with my first one. Hopefully they will make some babies by the end of the year.

Maybe a threesome will give you a better chance?

I'd say that one looks like the better buy, despite the water stains. But I'll have to hold off at the present time.

What kills me is the one I won was driven to its lofty price by one other bidder. Between me and him, we outdistanced the third-place bid by almost $100.

That's what has killed me time and again on eBay. Wanting something enough to place a sure-winner snipe on the auction, and then having one other bidder drive up my winning bid much higher than necessary to beat everyone else.

Could everyone else just abandon eBay for a few months and let me acquire what I want at minimum bids?

Maybe we should have a sign-up sheet, and we'll rotate turns.

Ohh but I have done my part!  Haven't bought much since I left San Diego after committing to the 2nd Plymell & the C*nt File Copy... 'course I don't think I knew you were "comixjoint" either.

Not high grade, but still a nice price for the lot...(my bid for $16.25 wasn't enough to post for the next increment, so I didn't get to snipe it).

Unfortuantely those books looked like they came out of someone's toilet, otherwise there would have been a lot more interest. I'd really like to land a copy of the Elric book from that auction, just not one that severely rat-chewed.

That 1974 Grave Tales interested me also...

Nice catch BrotherJ, looks like we are on the same wavelength, my snipe was less than a buck short.

I had a snipe set on that Motor City that fell a few bucks short of going off. I've failed to win about a dozen of that seller's auctions due to low sniper bids. I'm getting cheap in my old age.

Also tracking the market a bit before I sell about 2,000 of my own comix, beginning in a couple months.

that is a very colorful MC#1 1st with that yellow band across the top.  nice solid key brotherJ!

i find it hard to really go big on a Home Grown Funnies b/c there is no cover tell and the person really has to know that book (50c; doesn't say) a little to accurately portray it.  i picked up one that was beat up, but in order to break the 9.0 barrier, i had to buy it in person and pay for it.  i suppose over time one could get lucky, but you'd get burned just as frequently, eh?

O40... whatchoo got on selling some Zap 1 Donahue Files?  :icon_bounce:
i only had two books on my radar for 2008... Feds N Heads & Zap 2 Heads first...
but i might be able to make an exception.   :rocker:

Brother J

Thanks for the congratulations, guys. I really don't have money to be spending, but I guess as long as I have room on my credit cards, I can afford it...

The book on my radar for 2008 is a Zap Donahue. I'll probably never own a Plymell, but at least I should eventually be able to afford one of these.
