50Cent #II (1st print)

Since there are so many UnderGround artists work in Adult magazines, wouldn't a section in the back of Fogel's UG Price Guide listing magazines, the artists who's work appears, and other info. would be a great addition to the FUG.  I propose that we could use this thread to add info. on issues and their UG artists works...

To start, there's of course the Cheri December 1976 issue with the Carload O' Comics insert by R. Crumb.

There there are all those Cavaliers, the Rouge issue with Trina Williams, the Coq #1-5 issues (Irons, Hansen, l. Todd, etc.) that Jay Lynch let us know about, Playboy with the Feds N' Heads game, Gallery, Dude, Gent, Nugget (Wood, Frazetta), (was there anything in Escapade?), Swank, etc...

Then there is the non-adult mags like Mademoiselle, Esquire, Surfer, Charlatan, Bacchenal, Help!, High Times, National Lampoon, Galaxy, etc...

Scans of the covers would be great, and maybe we could start a Wiki section for mags too...

Why stop there? Why not list all of the counterculture tabloids that featured comix? Given all that was missing from the guide and how long it seems to take to publish a supplement, this sort of thing would require a Herculean effort. As for including it in the wiki, I don't think that's a bad idea. It should be formatted something like this:

Title:
Publication Date:
Volume Number, Issue Number:
Page Number(s):
Story Name and/or Description:
Artist(s):

Brother J

If you guys keep giving additions, we're never going to get the Update edition. I hope it's at least released before a year has gone by since I pre-ordered my copy...  :clock:

Remember, Fogel's guide is much more of a price guide than it is a reference guide. With that said, men's magazines have a collector base all their own and that would require massive amounts of research to determine what they're worth when you're going to start including hundreds of publications over 40+ years. In all reality, I'd be shocked if this sort of thing ever made it into the guide.

Collecting is a disease = Obsessive-Possessive Disorder.

Slabbing Undergrounds is sacrilege.

The phrase "Action 1 of the Undergrounds"
makes my skin crawl.

I tend to agree with Reverend. If Dan attempted to expand and annotate his guide with every facet of underground comics, the guide would end up 10 times longer than the first edition. Not that I wouldn't love to see men's magazines included, as they are a special breed. But so damn many of them included underground/sex comics that it would be almost impossible to exclude any of them, unless you decided to limit the entries to the top 30 "superstar" UG artists and writers of the classic '60s/'70s era.

Even that limitation would present a monumental challenge to completing a true checklist.

Oh, and I agree with Bro J as well. WHEN THE HELL IS THAT UPDATE EDITION COMING OUT?
