I never thought to ask. Are any of you fans of ABC's Lost?
I watch it, but this season so far seems to be a bit disjointed.

Yep, BIG fan. Never miss it. I record it every Thu. to make sure I'll have it available. Fascinating show, altho sometimes confusing, especially now that they have not only flashbacks but flashforwards to the future as well! Lotsa side bennies to the show too, like learning about Korean culture with the Korean couple flashbacks & such.

For some reason, I didn't see this reply until now.
Good to know there's another "Lostie" on the board. I'm fiending for the finale.

After we see how the Oceanic Six get off the island, I'm wondering how next season will play out. Will we see from the point of view of the characters that are still on the island, or those who left? I'm guessing the show is going to stay centered around the island itself. I'm sure the cliff-hanger ending next week will be killer.

Yeah, exactly. There's so much confusion, especially now with the flash forwards. In one awhile back we see Jack drunk at a hospital & then he meets Kate (at an airport?) & says they have to get back to the island. And then more recently it shows him married to Kate & bringing up Claire's baby & of course we just learned that Claire is (was?) Jack's half-sister! THAT was a mind-blower! And then another flash-forward shows the Korean woman with Hurley at her husband's grave, so supposedly he died (of what?) but then another one shows him buying a huge teddy bear for the wife of somebody else (his boss?) who's just had a baby. Now was that a flash back or a flash forward? Just too much confusion around here. <g>

That was a flash forward and a flashback going simultaneously. Jin's was the flashback and Sun's was the flash forward. I suspect Jin will die when the explosive goes off on the ship, and possibly Desmond and Michael as well. I'm guessing next season will be twofold with stuff going on with The Oceanic 6 and the folks left behind with Ben moving between the two parties as he appears to have mastered "time travel". The following season will be the two groups somehow getting back together...at least that's how I see the overview of the rest of the episodes. I too am looking forward to next Thursday's finale, and feeling somewhat pissed off that the hospital show before Lost gets to finish their season first, making us Lost ones wait....Bah!

OK, that makes sense. I kinda suspected it might be something like that. So Jin's was just after he'd gotten married, then.QuoteI suspect Jin will die when the explosive goes off on the ship, and possibly Desmond and Michael as well.
Hmmmm, so that'd preclude Desmond getting back with his big love that sort of set him out in the first place, but OTOH it'd be poetic justice for Michael for killing those 2 to get off the island. Took me a sec. to figure out what you meant by that but then I realized that when he appeared in the desert recently it was a coupla of yrs. earlier than the present time. But if so, how did he already know Saeed since they didn't meet until the island? Hmmmm ..... But if so, how did he already know Saeed since they didn't meet until the island? Hmmmm ..... The key to his time traveling was when he asked the desk clerk the date and then smiled to himself. It appears that the meeting with Sayid takes place after he's left the island because he appears to be attending the funeral of his lover, who we saw meet him at the airport in the most recent episode. One of the experiments the Dharma Initiative must have been working on was Time Travel, as we also see Desmond experience some version of it in the episode where he almost became unstuck in time (my personal favorite episode, thus far) also his lover's father is the guy that is out to get Ben, so who can say how that relationship will play out. The father also has some tie to the old shipwreck on the island, and may be a time traveller himself, and in fact be Ben's significant other or whatever it is they call the person who is the point of reference for the other in the time travel equation. That's probably why Ben said he can't kill him, much the way Faraday has to rely on his relationship with Desmond, and so on, and so on.....pretty headache inducing when you get down to it.....Ain't it?

By the time Ben and Sayid meet in that desert town it's later, so December 2005 makes sense.

One of the things I've been most curious about is the remnant of that massive, three-toed statue. I really do wonder if they're ever going to go back and try to explain that or simply leave it up to the viewer to make of it what they will, which is, in my opinion, something from an ancient, perhaps alien, society.
Or could it be a remnant of another Dharma Initiative bit of research, like teleportation or something more bizarre? Obviously there is a lot more to the Island than what is going on in the present, especially since Faraday illustrated that there is some kind of time burp between the island and everywhere else, but your theory of long past, or ancient times on the island is intriguing. It reminds me of that famous Richard McGuire strip titled "Here", where each panel is the same space, yet what changes is the time of that particular space, between panels. It's in Comic Art #8, and I think it appeared in an issue of Raw at some point. A whole TV series based on that type of premise would be pretty interesting, and the Lost island is the perfect 'panel' for the show!

Right, right, of course! I'd completely forgotten that it's only around 100 days after the crash & the series HAS been on for, what, 3 or 4 seasons now but that obviously doesn't mean that the same amt. of time has passed in the program! Guess I had my own brain fart! <g>

Quotethe remnant of that massive, three-toed statue.
One of my favorite sight gags.
(I also enjoyed the Darmha logo on the shark's tail.)
But i think it is just a piece of art, nothing more.
(but if it turns out to be MORE, how cool would that be!!)
Has anybody heard of an urban legend about a kid soaking in a tub of cement till it hardens?
(i couldn't find it at Snopes)
The Gray's finale had a case where a kid was dared into it, to impress a girl.
Co-incedently, they ran a comericial in which the brand name SUV was used to take a guy in cement to a hospital, AND tow the cement mixer back to the rental place at the same time.
(I've seen this ad twice before)
I smell an urban legend, but haven't heard it yet.
Bet this turns up in Law-n-Order and/or CSI.

Or could Widmore be the original captain of the ship who has discovered some form of immortality, via time travel? Didn't Ben say he couldn't kill him upon their confrontation in Widmore's bedroom? Guess that statement could be taken in may ways per the whole Lost experience, eh?
What happens to those people that don't go to the island through the correct heading? Could they travel back in time? Could Cpt. Witmore be someone from the present who went back?
This probably how a Lost writers' meeting gets underway....even as we post, perhaps!!!!
It's tonight!
This series is appropriately named " Lost" It lost me the 1st season and I have not bothered to crawl back to where this script is to find out where everyone went or what alter universe they might be in now or for that minute. I hate it when a story schleps from 1 question to 3 more . This story reminds me of trying to talk a friend down from a bad trip. The more he talked, the more out there he got to the point where he became so frustrated at his inability to communicate his thoughts to the others trying to help him. He was adamant that he had figured out something remarkable but he was unintelligible to us at that time. :yikes: For me this series had no there there. For me pointless. :sleepy1: For Others that like this well so be it. Not my cup of Tea by any means. :headscratch:
Ya gotta like puzzles.
one of the things i like about undergrounds, is puuzzleing out the reprints.
But if you don't, there's plenty else to love about undergrounds.
OTOH "Lost" is probably 50 percent puzzles.
I think i got it all figured out,
and it keeps proving me wrong.
I got 2 friends that figured out, last season, that Jack & Clare were half-sibs.

Whoa! I gotta hand it to your friends! I sure the hell never figured THAT out! Did they do so by trying to understand why Jack's father went to Oz in the first place? I'd never thought of that, actually. Now, I'm trying to figure out if Clare is still alive or not. Well, maybe we'll find out tonite.

OK, looks like you were right about Michael but I have a suspicion that Jin might still show up. OTOH, now we know that Desmond survived & apparently went back to Oz or Albion with Penny. (And of course the helicopter pilot also survived.)
But now there's all this other stuff to wonder about. Like, why is John Locke apparently dead but with the name of Jeremy Bentham (which also happens to be the name of a famous British utilitarian philosopher of around 200 yrs. ago)? And how did he get off the island? And now we know the extension of the airport scene with Jack & Kate & Locke's contact with them. But how about Ben's supposed suicide? According to Sayid when he comes to "rescue" Hurley. And then there's the scene with Walt & Hurley in the mental hosp. Anyway, lotsa stuff to look forward to next season! <g>

When Jack's father appears to Michael and tells him that he can go, I wonder if Michael hasn't been taught how to "jump" around through time. Perhaps he knew that Jin was still on the boat and went to save him. I don't know . . . Something is telling me that Jin is not dead.
When Ben moved the island, didn't that big wheel look like the helm of a ship? When I saw that it made me think that the entire "island" is not really an island at all but just that, a ship, a vessel of some sort. I suppose that sounds a bit preposterous, but it's the first thing that popped into my mind.

Huh! Hadn't thought about Michael time traveling. I just figured he was killed as poetic justice for the 2 he killed last yr. to get off the island. Also didn't realize it was Jack's father that appeared to him. It was such a short instant that I missed it somehow. OK, I had to do a Google search on that term since I didn't know what the hell a Tardis was but Wikipedia tells me it's a kind of time machine in the Dr. Who series, which I've never really watched so don't know much about it. I recall that it used to be called Dr. Who & the Daleks but it seems like the Daleks have been dropped from the current version. Did they finally get defeated or something?
