Comix Wave / Comix World?

I know there was a series about UG's called Comix Wave by Geerdes and his company was called Comix World, but was there also a publication called Comix World by him or someone else?

Comix World was his one page fanzine(both sides usually on colored paper) that I first saw when it came in a parcel of UG as a bonus when I was 12 years old and receiving my first mail order from Last Gasp around 1973.  I've managed to put together a nearly complete run of the 100+ issues he put out, but Comix Wave I'm not familiar with, unless those were what he called the later issues and I just hadn't noticed.  It's a great series if you can get hold of them, as it was like the DC Currents or Stan's Soapbox of UG.

New here but I hope you don't mind my 2 cents on this.  Clay's Comix World newsletters will be posted online for anyone that would like to view them or download.  There are a few of the earliest issues already posted on my cousin's website http://comixworld.com/   
My cousin, Steve Geerdes, hopes to have the rest of them posted in the near future but I believe he is doing the majority of the work himself so it's a bit of a project for him.  He did tell me that if anyone would like a copy of a particular issue, you can email him and he'll send you a jpg.  If he is unable to help you, please let me know and I will be able to get a copy from one of my sets. 
Clay was our uncle so if anyone has any questions regarding his work, please let us know and we'll try to help you the best we can.  Steve is primarily a silver-age to bronze-age dealer while I have been a golden/silver-age collector for over 30 years.  I am also expanding my underground collection which includes Clay's undergrounds that he gave to me before he passed.

Thanks for your 2 cents.  That must be one hell of a collection you inherited.  Did Clay have most of the keys? I'll bet he kept him in nice condition!  Would this be considered a "pedigree" collection? Intriguing, to say the least! Welcome aboard!

To me it appears from the ad in the Illustrated Underground Comix Checklist that there was a newsletter (over 100+ issues of this 1 page double sided newsletter, according to an earlier post) as well as at least 13 mini comix titled Comix World by Geerdes.

Hi,
Looking through my listing, Comix World issue #1 was October 1973 thru #238 November 1984.
The Comix Wave newsletter started with #1 in April 1983 thru #163 dated August 5, 1995.
Please let me know if you are aware of any issues past what I have described but I'm fairly certain that those titles stopped where indicated.

This shows to me that there was definitely 2 different things available.

This shows to me that there was definitely 2 different things available.

I'm pretty sure the "Comix World mini-series" would've just been a batch of the eight-pagers Clay published (there are hundreds of them).

Comix World was the name of the original newsletter (and magazine column). As Bill pointed out the later newsletters (numbering started over) was called Comix Wave. Towards the end of the Comix World newsletter both of them were being published concurrently (or maybe alternating biweekly or something). The month the final Comix World was published (#238, Nov. 1984) also saw the publication of Comix Wave (the newsletter) #20. I assume Bill's right about the final Comix Wave newsletter being #163 (I've only got up to around #95 myself).

The title Comix Wave was also used for a digest-sized anthology that began in 1981 and ran for somewhere around 20 issues (at least 17, I forget right now how many for sure).

The publishing imprint was called Comix World but Clay changed it to Comix Wave around '83 or '84 (probably around the same time he ended one newsletter and began the other) -- although some later minis say "Comix World" but in some cases they were probably drawn way before they were published (or maybe the artist just forgot or whatever).

I found a book called "The Collectors Guide to Newave Comix" from January 1981 which Clay compiled.  It lists everything from 1978-1980 that he did and a whole bunch of titles from others that sent information to him from 1972-1980. I don't have complete information yet on what Clay did on mini-comix before 1978.  The book also has a lot of ads from other artists and dealers selling their stuff.  Is this book known to any of you??  Clay also notes who the artist was next to the titles.  I can type this up for y'all if there is any interest for this.   Just let me know if posting it here is alright since it is a long list or let me know where it should be sent.

I didn't get a copy, but I did get the British list that David Noon contributed to it, which is what I was mainly after, though I wouldn't turn a copy down if it came my way.
