50Cent #II (1st print)

Been looking forward to this, hope it does the classic that I loved justice.  Part 1 airs tonight on A&E at 9-11 and part 2 airs tomorrow night.  Anyone else going to watch this?
I get a kick out of these infectious movies like Outbreak and the lower budget Warning Signs and Impulse from the 80's.

To me Night Of The Living Dead is really the grandaddy of the genre, though I am also partial to threatened outbreaks like City of Fear, a great noir from the late-50's with Vince Edwards thinking he's carrying a stash of heroin, when in reality he's carrying a plague that could wipe out all of LA.  I love stuff like that and often wonder how close we come to it and how much the governement isn't telling us when it does come close.....

Looks pretty big budget for a TV movie (though I think it came out on DVD first, recently).

The first one was classic Sci-Fi. :01_bounce:
I don't get A&E currently- so how was/is it?

Click on the link above for more info.  It's a 2 part (2nd half tonight).  It's produced by Ridley Scott.  I only got to watch the first half hour yesterday night, then my friend called me up and said she just leased a new car and needed me to follow her and drive her "old" car back to her home for her.  It's on again today at 1pm, so I might watch it then or tomorrow on my Tivo.

I saw the original  "Andromeda Strain movie at college in 1970 /1971  I don't remember the date exactly.  I do however remember that I was trippin my ass off on 2 hits of Ozley acid that came straight out of Sandoz .  To say that the Movie was intense would be putting it mildly.   I think it took me about a week to get over the impact that Movie had on me.   Ah yes.  Those good old days of my youth but I would not trade it now for anything. :smokin:

I can RELATE, man!  Jan., 1969:  stoned outa my fuckin' mind on several 100 mg of blotter acid, gettin' OFF on "In A Gadda Da Vida" blasting out the walls!  Yep, no regrets for my youth whatsoever!  (Also the name of a Kurosawa movie.  <g>)

Are we part of the moral potential being made complete on the pitchfork of Elmer Fudd?

Well, I thought it was pretty good, with the added plot complications 'n all.  At least, until the end.  The neverending time-loop was just over the top, though.

I thought it was just OK, the low budget style CGI bothered me.  The added story line was interesting though.  But this just can't compare to the original.

Well being in that over 55 crowd I must say I was not impressed much by this remake, but most remakes leave me cold anyway.  It goes along with the Sci Fi stuff I see on Sci Fi channel.  No suspense,  No Terror,  might has well been a Soap Opera.   Can't say I felt any connection with any of the Characters.  I'm surprised that this was a Ridley Scott Film.  I usually love him as a director.
I really love the old 50s early 60 Sci Fi / Horror stuff far better then  the milk toast productions of today.  I do like some present day stuff.  Aliens was as tight a story as you can get, far better than the 1st Film.  I think the Eerrie  music & effects that they had in the old stuff just helped to set the mood.   ScFi Channel is a poor Joke in my book but whatever floats your boat I guess.
I think I saw King Kong when I was 4 years old and loved it.  The black & white stuff has a certain feel that I love for its atmospherics.  I saw  7th Voyage of Sinbad  at 6 years old when it opened at Radio City Music Hall on it's huge screen and It had big impact on me to this day.  The Harrythausen stuff was impressive at that time.  :cya:

Reverend

In my experience, "made for TV" is usually a death sentence for just about any horror/sci-fi film. Look at the wealth of Stephen King stories that have been destroyed accordingly.

Boy is that the truth Reverend.   TV Directors are usually the biggest idiots on the entire set and their entourage of A.D.s and  Yes people are always intolerable to anyone with a functioning brain. :01_bounce:

Yes Sir Real. How perceptive of you.  Just kidding.   I have worked as a IATSE Union Stagehand for Over 30 years and been involved with Music most of my life as performer and on the other side of the stage in Production.  I have worked in Theater, Concerts , Corp Business meetings, & Film production.   I live in NJ and work the New york Tri-state area which is very busy. The Concert work is great setting up the large Stadium shows. outdoor venues & Theaters.  I was at Woodstock 94 for 3 weeks setting up, doing shows & tearing down. A real Mudfest but I loved it. I was 60 feet in the air on the Main Tower as a Followspot operator.  What a view.  I like theater work and work in Props most of the time. Good gig and you can move around and not get tied down to 1 spot.  The nekid girls backstage ain't bad either. Film work is more spotty and tedious setting up Scenes and Takes again & again & again.  I started in the Stagetech Biz working  for Playboy Corp.  Yes there were Bunnies with big ones.  I am retired now but I loved being able to do all this stuff. You should see my Backstage Passes Collection along With G- Picks, Drumsticks, Heads & memorabilia. .   I have worked several 1000 concerts over the years and done about every Theater show thats has been out there.   I love the big Giant's Stadium concerts.  They take almost a week to set up  & a day & half to teardown and get on trucks.  Rolling Stones shows can be almost 60 semi- trucks of Steel, gear, light trusses, motors & several trucks of Sound gear.   I know it sounds all fun & it is, but the Hrs are incredible sometimes with little time to sleep in between.  The crews are a great bunch of people with good sense of humor which is essential  and we work like a colony of ants at times.   Well I guess that answered your question.  Now you know the reason for my handle .  Regards,  Stage52   " Exit Stage Left" :rocker:
