"Woe be unto him who opens one of the seven gateways to hell, because through that gateway evil will invade the world."

Sir Real

Nothing that I'm aware of.  The only thing of note I see "Coming Soon" from Last Gasp is their Official Dealer McDope Dealing Game.

Where did you first hear this rumor?

From Jay and he asked me something in regards to Wilson. I mean maybe he is putting ideas in my head or something but some how I think I do recall Wilson saying to me something about working on a page for Zap when I spoke to him... However... This could have been prior to the issue that is already out because I know it was not mentioned the last time I did speak to Wilson.

Maybe I read into what Jay said.

At any rate, I am certainly confused and from what Wilson said about Turner last time I spoke to him... It would seem strange.

Wonder if they can get Crumb to make one more contribution to the Zap pantheon. His stories in recent issues were some of the most illuminating and funny ever. If Crumb can find time for Mineshaft, surely he can find time for #16.

Visitor Q

Yeah unless it is a matter or principle but I'm sure with him money talks... Now what is strange about that is Mineshaft does not pay.

Yeah, and Zap will have to pay him more than anyone else. There must be a rift between Crumb and S. Clay, who opposed Crumb's belief that Zap should be opened to other artists besides the core group.

Visitor Q

I think they should keep the original artist at this point, I mean why mess with such a great group of artists? How many strips to you see from Robt. Williams these days? Would you really bump him or one of the other key artist for say... Dan Clowes!?

Think about it...

No, no, absolutely not. I agree they should keep the original artists at this point. The rift really began 30+ years ago, and ever since then it became increasingly hard for the other artists to recruit Crumb to contribute. They always managed it, though, and that led to some funny comics in the latter issues of the series.

No, at this point, Zap should be preserved for those classic UG artists until they all fade away.... And then the title should probably be retired, don't you think?

Yeah I agree... I think they should stick to the original group and then put it to bed there after.

But just think it they added new artists, then they could put a new issue out every few months or so and not every few years, more like Crumb wanted.  I would rather have that...

Visitor Q

Quantity is no substitute for quality IMO.

I disagree...

I'd be happy to submit work for it, if given the chance.
Most cartoonists would.
In comics and comix, there are always more cartoonists available then there is outlets for them to publish their works.
It might cheapen the Zap image, true, but then other works have allowed new talent to grow by allowing them a chance.
Read Lost Cause Comix-
"Underground at it's Deepest"

Visitor Q

Yeah but that is why there is Blab! and that started out as a great publication!

Current issue of Blab! is $22.95, not really a comix or a magazine, but a periodical book.

Visitor Q

My point was not the price but the content.
