50Cent #II (1st print)

I'll think about it...
There's another one listed from mycomicshop.com, but it's not near NM and it's a lot more expensive ($60).

Won this Hard Cover for $30, with a minor tear on the dust cover.

Was happy seeing this one go for over $100 a week later...

#1 (1963)  This has to be one of the early connections to UnderGround Comix, it's one of the earliest appearances to Shelton's Wonder Wart-Hog, having only appeared in 2 issues of Bacchanal (Mar. & April 1962) and at least 8 issues of Texas Ranger starting in Dec. 1961 or Mar. 1962, depending on reference (anybody have issues of Texas Ranger to verify if the first Wonder Wart-Hog appeared in Dec. 1961? per Harvey's Art of the Comic Book (p. 211) and may have appeared in 1 or 2 issues of Help! (Nov. 1962 & May 1963) before Charlatan.  But Charlatan was supposed to be the first appearance for Wonder Wart-Hog according to Frank Stack's interview with Gilbert Shelton in TCJ #187.  Also, anyone know what issue was the God Nose cover, or at least what year that was?

This arrived today, so impressed with the packaging and the quality of this issue.  It's shiney and looks like it might be the finest example of this I could imagine.  Small amount of chipping and  a light amount of rust on the upper staple is all that's wrong from this 45 year old magazine.

The article mentions that Wonder Wart-Hog appears recently in Help! magazine (this must be the Nov. 1962 issue), but the back says the 2nd issue of Charlatan is expected in November ('63) with "Wonder Wart-Hog Meets Super Fool".  The article inside states that W W-H appeared first in Bacchanal ('62), then Help! (Nov. '62?) and then Texas Ranger (Aug. '62).  But also mentions that he made an appearance in a issue "Last year" in Mademoiselle (I believe it was Aug. 1962).

And an article sheds more light on Wonder Wart-Hog.  I'll try to take some pics of it and post it.

Wow, my hand was literally shaking as I gleened over how nice this copy is, looks almost new. This will go along great with my copy of Freak Brothers #1 (1st print) if it doesn't sell today.

The phrase "Action 1 of the Undergrounds"
makes my skin crawl.

Is there something wrong with the above book? If not, why on earth do you have it open like that???  :confused2:

50Cent #II (1st print)

I didn't, that's how it was advertised.

ok, with the book open like that and the bug eyed guy, I thought maybe something was wrong with the book, like the staples were missing or something...

oldmilwaukee6er

perhaps he was implying "holy fuck balls... how could some unwashed bumbleass flatten that glorious and important first printing underground?"

I cringed when I saw it open like that. After the cringe, I was enraged that someone would dare to do such a thing. My blood began to boil, so to speak, and some of it dribbled from out my left nostril. I suppose this would sum it up:  :angry5:
