Just a quick note here.  As I understand it, Turner Classic Movies (TCM) is going to be airing the movie "Skidoo" tonight on their TCM Underground.  I've never seen it, or heard of it, but it is supposed to be a "psychedelic comedy" that has never been released to video.

Heck, I'm gonna see it.

Interesting, Maybe I'll record it since it's at 2:00 am.

Edit.
Looks like it's on at 11:00pm on the west coast.

Never saw it but my buddy that is here has and seems to like it a lot.

I watched about the first half hour then fell asleep (I was tired) and woke up when the credits where rolling and they were singing that nutty song (and reading the credits out loud?).

LOL!  Almost the same boat as you.  I got involved  in a minor emergency about 30 minutes in.  When I got back, Carol Channing was singing, then that unique credits segment. I taped it, though, to watch it later.

Did you watch "The Love-Ins" right after Skidoo?

I taped it and saw the whole thing. The movie was terrible, but it was amazing. It had about 12-15 1960s icons in their worst performances. If you never saw them before, then the picture was unwatchable. But to see Jackie Gleason, Mickey Rooney, Fabian, Groucho Marx, and Carol Channing make fools of themselves was great. Then there were the 3 villians form the 60s Batman, Frank Gorshen (the riddler), Burgess Meridith (the Penguin) and Caesar Romero (the Joker) as well as good old George Raft and Peter Lawford. And lo and behold, Richard Kiel (Jaws from James Bond fame). To top it off, it was directed by Otto Preminger. Amazing, I would really like to know the back story of the feature. Why was it made? Who thought this up? Was everyone who was once big washed up at the time?

Read somewhere on the internet that writers were hired in the middle of shooting to try to help fix it, the director put in a couple of their jokes but didn't change it much and there you have it...

I've read Otto's estate controls it and they don't think it's his best work so they won't release it.  Also read the Otto's estate doesn't control the rights and the studio does and they don't want to release this mess...

You can watch the whole thing on YouTube, I think there's 10 parts or so.

I looked it up on the net. Otto was doing acid before the movie and Groucho did it to get in character for the movie. If you Google Skidoo and Jackie Gleason you will find sites selling the DVD (boot?) for as low as $12.99. If you are not familiar with the cast, because you are not 108 like me, then the movie is nothing. But it is something to behold if you know them. Sort of like a star studded Springtime for Hitler. Actually, now that I think of it, there was one ug reference. The hippie extras were from the Hog Farm.
