There's a thread on the CGC forums that Will Elder (Mad mag.) may have passed away...
RIP

It appears to have been confirmed, as my wife plays in various 'dead pools' and after in was announced on one of her forums, she rushed into the living room, where I was enjoying an episode of Sgt. Bilko, and asked if I had ever heard of Will Elder.  When you hear it from the wife, it's usually true!  A sad loss indeed. Elder was the first artist who made me realize that a person drew comics because his style was so unique and magnetic.  My mom had a few of the Ballantine Mad pbs and I devoured those books.  They were like alien manna from heaven, and Elder's work stood out, especially with all his Chicken Fat....I've always thought he began the tradition the Sergio Aragones kind of continued outside the panels, with his Drawn Out Dramas...sort of a Mad signature,as such....I'm glad I was able to shake Elder's hand and tell him how much I enjoyed his work in 2000 when EC was the main topic at The San Diego Con, and he showed up with Al Feldstein, Jack Kamen, Jack Davis, Russ Heath, Marie Severin, Al Williamson, Kelly Freas, Angelo Torres, and Jack Mendelsohn.  My favorite con ever!

Elder's work was amazing. His contributions in the early MADs are still some of my favorite comics.
