I'd be happy to submit work for it, if given the chance.
Most cartoonists would.
In comics and comix, there are always more cartoonists available then there is outlets for them to publish their works.
It might cheapen the Zap image, true, but then other works have allowed new talent to grow by allowing them a chance.

No doubt, awillis, there are more cartoonists available than there are outlets for them to publish, but we are talking about Zap Comix. No disrespect to you or any other cartoonist, but Zap is sacred ground, not only for pure UG collectors but also for comic book historians. I would prefer that the Zap image not be "cheapened" by suddenly changing its 39-year history and becoming some sort of bi-monthly that helps open the doors for aspiring cartoonists. There are other resources for that.

If Zap were to continue, I'd rather see it feature the work of the very best and well-known alt cartoonists like Bagge, Clowes, Charles Burns, etc., producing classic cutting edge comic stories.

But I really don't even want that. If Zap can squeeze out a 16th issue, that would be a nice, even number to end the series. Then it would remain a single, monumentally important comic book series that revolutionized the industry when it debuted and featured high-quality work from its original contributors (and a tiny handful of others, like Mavrides) for 40 years.

I really would prefer that than witness a future that someday sees the publication of Zap Comix #59, featuring a dozen artists and writers who don't even know who Victor Moscoso and Spain Rodriguez are.

^^ I think that pretty much sum's it up for me.

My point was that most cartoonists would love to submit work for it.
Ron Turner, being the quality editor that he is, would obviously reject any work not deemed to fit.
I would assume all the original artists would have a say, also.
There may be contractual items and trademark ownership with the original artists that would not allow others to submit, but it doesn't mean that the desire to do so by, dare I say it, lesser UG artists is diminished.
It is the pinnacle of underground Titles as it was one of the first.
One of the reasons I started drawing UG's.

And every cartoonist and writer has their own abilities and likes as well as those that read and purchase them.

Word is that Zap 16 will be published by a fancy major publisher.  I don't know if it's true, though.  But all that stuff that was so underground in the old days now is pretty respectable.          .  Today is Dec.7th...Friday.   Check out Hy and Lois in the Sunday newspaper comics on Dec. 9th (2 days from now).  Not only is Chip reading an old copy of Zap in panel 1...He is also half finished reading Ginzberg's HOWL in the final panel.

These are topsy turbsy times.

Check out Hy and Lois today (Sunday, Dec. 9th).  Not only is Chip reading an old Zap in panel 1, but in the last panel he is half way through Ginsborg' s HOWL.

Why is it that I can only post one line?  Anyway...last panel Chip reads Ginsberg.
